Desktop Architecture

The Autumn 2006 collection sees the launch of Hani Rashid’s ‘Desktop Architecture’ for Alessi – a range of uber cool desktop items challenging the more mundane designs of everyday office items we normally take for granted. The range includes the ‘Scud’ desk organiser, the ‘Stila’ paper knife and the ‘Trina’ pen & pencil holder all in stainless steel. To compliment the range the ‘Parq’ desk tray comes in three subtle colours. What’s more, with prices starting at just £15.00 for the paper knife this Alessi range won’t break the bank either. Hani Rashid was born in Cairo in 1958 and now lives in New York, where he founded Studio Asymptote in 1988. He is one of the most interesting exponents of the group of young international designers assiciated with ‘digital architecture’, and the designer of the new Alessi showroom in New York.
